At a Breuer Window

Seen at the Met Breuer, a branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, designed by architect Marcel Breuer. The building opened in 1966 as the Whitney Museum of art, and was taken over by the Met in 2016 after the Whitney moved to a new location. The windows are my favorite features of this building.

Room 80

The Celeste Bartos Forum, formerly known as Room 80 at the New York Public Library when it was used as a public branch library within the larger central library building. It is now used as an events space. It has a 30-foot-high elliptical dome of glass, supported on four leaping arches of cast iron.

Beauty of an Era Long Ago

The City Hall subway station, built in the Romanesque Revival style featuring Guastavino tile, skylights, colored glass tilework and brass chandeliers, opened in 1904 as the showpiece of New York's new subway system. The station closed in 1945 to be abandoned ever since. The space shown here used to be the entrance/exit of the station with a beautifully decorated booth straight ahead.
